On November 13, 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Anhui Agricultural University (AAU) from the People's Republic of China. This significant step is part of an effort to strengthen collaboration in academics and research. The signing was led by Associate Professor Dr. Utane Kamnan, Acting President of RMUTL, who assigned Associate Professor Dr. Anon Numin, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Research, and Academic Services, and Associate Professor Dr. Piyamas Tandchareonrat, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Agricultural Technology, to host the event. The delegation welcomed Prof. CAO Haiqun, President of Anhui Agricultural University, and other key representatives from AAU to discuss academic collaboration and sign the agreement.

This MOU signifies an important initiative aimed at enhancing academic and research cooperation between the two institutions. It will contribute to the development of learning and innovation aligned with national development strategies. The collaboration originates from RMUTL's Faculty of Science and Agricultural Technology's strategic push to elevate education quality and research that meets international standards, benefiting students and responding to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation’s (MHESI) strategic goals.

The agreement encompasses a wide range of collaborative activities that will strengthen the academic and learning capabilities of both universities. These include student and staff exchange programs, joint research projects, training for master's and doctoral students, curriculum development, academic conferences, and sharing significant academic documents and resources. Furthermore, there are plans to co-create academic journals and publications in the future to provide a platform for disseminating research on a global scale.

Associate Professor Dr. Anon Numin, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Research, and Academic Services, stated, “As a university administrator, this MOU opens up opportunities for our students and staff to access high-quality learning resources and international-level research. The exchange of knowledge and agricultural and scientific research with Anhui Agricultural University will enhance the academic and innovative capabilities of our university, preparing students to excel in the global labor market. This collaboration also creates a robust network for sustainable development, aligning with MHESI's strategy to elevate Thai higher education to the international stage.”

Associate Professor Dr. Piyamas Tandchareonrat, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Agricultural Technology, added, “This agreement with Anhui Agricultural University is a vital opportunity that allows us to advance teaching and research that address the current global needs, particularly in agriculture and sustainable innovation—a key focus of our faculty. This collaboration will pave the way for joint research projects, knowledge exchange, curriculum development, and opportunities for students to gain practical, international-level experience, ultimately enhancing their skills and global perspectives. It will also contribute to expanding the faculty’s ability to attract a higher number of students for further studies.”

This signing reflects the dedication of both institutions to fostering beneficial cooperation that enhances international knowledge development. The goal is to produce highly skilled human resources, meet labor market demands, and promote sustainable community development. It marks an important milestone in developing strong relationships between universities in Thailand and abroad, opening up opportunities for academic cooperation that leads to significant innovations and new knowledge that benefit society and the economy.

The agreement not only signifies strengthened relations between the two universities but also establishes a research network for advancing agricultural science and technology knowledge that can be applied to foster sustainable social and economic growth.
